I maintain that KISS and U2 are exactly the same, give or take a few visual aides. The publication of this thesis is pending. Still.

In the meantime, please enjoy my pointless commentary on Twitter. And because this is the internet, I keep a Tumblr too..

I also like to play the ukelele.

In the wake of Facebook’s latest round of “privacy” fuck ups, Radio National’s report is particularly timely.

Everything from Wired declaring that Facebook has “gone rogue” to Google search trending “How do I delete my Facebook account?” is nicely summed up in this Salon article:

Why all the hot potato action for the site that had, until lately, been the biggest thing to happen to the Internet since porn? After all, Facebook isn’t running a charity here. We get to post our vacation photos and random xkcd cartoons for no charge, and in return – well, they had to want something, right? What did we think they’d give their sponsors — besides us?

The New York Times laid out just how complex Facebook’s privacy settings have become in this wonderful/frightening chart. And though the options are indeed bewildering, a new automated tool has been doing the web rounds the last couple of days, and it is great: Reclaim Your Privacy.

For my money, the person writing most beautifully about digital graveyards is Joel Johnson at Gizmodo, particularly this piece, Raiding Eternity.

Interviewing Slash

Interviewing Slash: Can I ask you a question, which if you could answer would solve one of the...

Photo

Good Night And Good Luck

Good Night And Good Luck:

Oh, the future! Where we live! You have delivered so much! And yet, you are also confusing. I can share anything I want — pretty much — with anyone, anywhere. Which is great! But on the other hand, who owns my data? Not so great.

For funnies, we also posted this on the YouTubes, where it’s gone a little nuts thanks to Reddit and Digg. And the Guardian.

I also love Google a lot of the time, even if it could be described as somewhat of a “frenemy.” Still, they have a philanthropy arm as well as their investment arm. They are aiming to go green. However, the point of a segment like the Beast File on the show, is just to say “keep an eye on the big guys.”

And for pete’s sake, learn to protect your data.

Here’s a somewhat silly thing I did for Hungry Beast....

Here’s a somewhat silly thing I did for Hungry Beast.
