The National Interview




Brooklyn quintet The National continue to garner critical accolades off the back of their new album High Violet at such rapid pace, they are beginning to resemble one of those little bowerbirds that decorate their nests with coloured bits of plastic; except in place of shiny plastic things, it’s the top of rock critical lists; and they are people, not birds.

RELATED: Ha! You know what is funny, when you forget things? This reminded me of when I saw the National the following night, it was me whose seat Matt Beringer decided to straddle and scream, quite literally, Mr November right in my face. And how, also, that turned into quite a ridiculous night out afterwards and how after managing to stay cogent and file the review once I got home I was, as a consequence, extremely hungover and a little bit late arriving at the Brag office the following morning and the first thing I had to do when I got there was interview Gene Simmons over the phone. And how, wow, those were different times. And also, whee! I’m old now, guys.
